Year 5 Curriculum Overview

Hello and welcome to Year 5!

On this page you will find important information and updates about our class. Our page will be updated regularly so keep checking in!

Please do not hesitate to speak to Mrs Walker or Mrs Green if you have anything you wish to discuss.

Useful Information

Homework is handed out on Thursdays and is due back in school the following Tuesday.

This will usually include spellings to learn and also write a sentence for each of the spelling words and a piece of Maths work which will either be written or online homework.   If your child is not secure with their times tables to 12 x 12, then you should continue to practise these too. English homework will be to read either alone or with an adult, ideally for 15-20 minutes each night. Please write comments in your child's reading record, and encourage them to write their own too.

This term, PE will take place every Monday. Please ensure your child has correct kit in order to participate in their lesson. Kit should be brought into school on a Monday and remain here until Friday as your child may have P.E. on a Friday too, depending on their group.  If your child has Grounds on a Friday, then they will need to bring in appropriate clothes for this. If your child practises their instruments at home then this must also come in every Friday so they can receive their music lesson.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask at the office, or see Mrs Walker or Mrs Green.

We are focusing on knowing all of our times tables by heart this half term.  We have been having fun practising our tables on an interactive game called 'Hit the button' which requires speedy recall of tables facts.  This can be found on  the Times Tables Games page of the Topmarks website.  Why not challenge a grown up to see who can get the highest score? smiley
