Year 3 Curriculum Overview

Hello and welcome to Year 3!

On this page you will find important information and updates about our class. Our page will be updated regularly so keep checking in!

Please do not hesitate to speak toMiss Edwards or Mrs Green if you have anything you wish to discuss.

Useful Information

Homework is handed out on Thursdays and is due back in school the following Wednesday.

This will usually include spellings to learn for our spellings test the following Wednesday, a times tables practice weekly, handwriting practice and English homework will be to read either alone or with an adult, ideally for 15-20 minutes each night. Please write comments in your child's reading record, and encourage them to write their own too.

This term, PE will take place every Monday. Please ensure your child has correct kit in order to participate in their lesson. If your child has Grounds on a Friday, then they will need to bring in appropriate clothes for this. For the Autumn term we will be learning the fife and all fifes will remain in school to prevent any loss or damage of instruments.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask at the office, or see Miss Edwards or Mrs Green.

Ancient Greece

For the Autumn term, year 3 will be learning about various different aspects of Ancient Greece during their topic work. This will also be incorporated into our English lessons each week, we will be choosing texts to work with that are based around Ancient Greece such as, myths and legends, fact-files and more. We will be using our knowledge of the world and building upon this by identifying where Greece is on an Atlas, which Continent it is in and so on. We will also be looking at what Ancient Greece looked like and will be comparing this to Modern Greece and also to the UK.

The children will be designing and making their own Ancient Greek masks over the upcoming weeks so any donations of newspapers would be highly appreciated. We are looking forward to sharing our work with you throughout this topic.
