Hello everyone! My name is Ms Bates and I’m the Family Wellbeing Advisor and part of the safeguarding team here at Barton Clough.
Before coming to Barton Clough in January 2016, I worked for four years in a secondary school in Warrington as a Learning Mentor, working with students in a pastoral capacity. This involved supporting students with a range of needs (including emotional, social, behavioural and SEND) to help them to remove those barriers to achievement. This was often done in conjunction with parents and family as a whole. In addition to this, I am also a qualified teacher of Humanities and have a vast amount of experience in safeguarding.
My role here is to support not only the children, but their families too. The nature of my role (not being classroom based) means that I am available to speak to and meet with parents and carers throughout the school day. Being a parent can be challenging at times, as I know being a parent myself, and I’m here to offer guidance and advice around the services that are available for you as parents in the Trafford area. I understand that for practical reasons, it isn’t always possible for parents and carers to get into school during the day and I’m more than happy to come and visit homes to offer non-judgemental support in whatever way I can, even if this means at a time outside of normal school hours.
If you have any questions, or would like to meet, please don’t hesitate to contact me. You can contact me on the school number or drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I look forward to meeting you all.
